Capitol celebration spotlights top-performing districts 

Mississippi Senate applauds superintendents for job well done

Representatives of the state’s 18 A school districts were recognized recently by the Mississippi Senate for best practices that positively impact student achievement.

Honored superintendents are: Mr. Arthur McMillan, Biloxi Public School District; Dr. Todd English, Booneville School District; Dr. Tim Martin, Clinton Public School District; Mr. Cory Uselton, DeSoto County School District; Mr. Josh Perkins, Enterprise School District; Dr. Adam Pugh, Lafayette County School District; Mrs. Tess Smith, Lamar County School District; Dr. Jay Smith, Long Beach School District; Mrs. Kimber Halliburton, Madison County School District; Mr. Bill Brand, North Tippah School District; Dr. Bonita Coleman, Ocean Springs School District; Mr. Brian Harvey, Oxford School District; Dr. Carla J. Evers, Pass Christian Public School District; Dr. Matt Dillon, Petal School District; Dr. Michelle Bivens, Pontotoc City School District; Dr. Sue Townsend, Rankin County School District; Mrs. Christie Holly, Tishomingo County School District; and Mr. Ken Basil, Union County School District.

"We congratulate these districts on being recognized for their pursuit of excellence in public education while setting an example for others across the state,” said MASS Executive Director Phillip Burchfield, “They are helping ensure that Mississippi’s educational system stays strong for years to come.”
